This site is a tribute to Mick McDonald. He is much loved and will always be remembered. He was a loving and caring husband to Carol and Dad to Chris, as well as Stevie and Anthony. He was a wonderful Dad in law to Lynne and Grandad to James, Gary and Claire. As well as being a Great-Grandad to Maiya.
Unfortunately Dad's Dementia didnt allow him to be able to enjoy being a great-grandad in the way we know he would have. But he did manage to delight Maiya with his Donald Duck voice when we visited at the Care Home.
We have wonderful memories of how Dad was before this horrid illness took hold and will always remember those wonderful times. He was a gentleman, caring and loving and very funny. He had lots of different voices he put on from Donald Duck to all different accents.
Chris will always remember him being a good role model to being a man and a Dad, and his wonderful sense of humour.
Lynne will always remember the wonderful smile and twinkling eyes she was always greeted with even to the end. Also how I nearly went in to early labour with James when Dad told the waitress he was a slow eater, even though he had eaten his soup and was eating mine that I couldnt manage.
Gary's memories include how he dressed up as Santa one year and walked from the flat to our home, getting lots of funny looks on the way, for his grandchildren to recognise him straight away. The competitive eating Dad did with all of us and how he told stories to them all for hours.
Claire will always remember when he picked her up from school how he would magic a sweet from behind her ear, share a packet of iced gems Claire having the gem and grandad having the biscuit. When they went down the steps of the bridge they would sing 'there may be trouble ahead' and dance together.
James remembers how he would come and watch him play football, when he picked him up from school grandad would always give him a humbug and a werthers and the Donald Duck voice was always a treat.
You can send flowers to the funeral which wll be put on the grave. or do a donation to Dementia UK to aid research so hopefully in the future no one will have to suffer having this awful disease and no other families will have to watch the deterioration and struggle their loved one goes through. Or of course you can do both.
Thank you x
